It's impossible to adequately repay the service of veterans who return from war zones bearing the most profound of injuries. As a humble token of our gratitude, the annual Wounded Heroes Golf Classic offers these brave men and women a day of fun-filled brotherhood. Friendly rivalries play out on two superb golf courses. Veterans and community come together to enjoy patriotic entertainment. Evening festivities include dinner and silent and live auctions, with the proceeds benefiting our own Lowcountry heroes. Originally held only at Hampton Hall Club, an exquisite Pete Dye-designed signature golf course, the Wounded Heroes Golf Classic has expanded to also include Belfair Golf Club, with two spectacular Tom Fazio-designed courses.
The tournament now features over 220 participants.
We are honored each year by the participation of Purple Heart recipients and combat injured/medically retired servicemen and service women from the Afghanistan and Iraq war zones. Some of our attending Wounded Heroes have played golf before, some never have, and some are unable. But, either way, they get to join several of our 4somes throughout the day, in whatever capacity they choose. And, it gives our golf participants the opportunity to meet and thank these amazing Heroes.
All Wounded Heroes attend the event as our guests and our primary focus is simple. We want them to have a great day of recreation and recognition ... a day that's all about them. In 2017, we had 29 Wounded Heroes join us.
They are joined by fellow active duty and retired personnel, area residents, sponsors, contributors, and business people who gather together in support of our Wounded Heroes.
LFWMH is a 100% All Volunteer organization. This leads to a very high percentage of all proceeds directly benefiting the charities we have chosen as the recipients of our donations.
